⚠️ Common Beogram Issues – What I Fix
🔴 ISSUE #1: Tangential Arm Not Moving / Sticking (ALL MODELS)
The tangential arm mechanism uses a servo system with a metal rail and ball bearings. Old lubricant hardens, causing the arm to stick or move erratically. I completely disassemble, clean, and relubricate the entire tangential mechanism.
🔴 ISSUE #2: Capacitor Failure (ALL MODELS)
Electrolytic capacitors in the power supply, motor control, and RIAA preamp (8002/9500) dry out, causing speed instability, hum, distortion, or no power. I perform a complete recap of all boards using premium Japanese capacitors.
🔴 ISSUE #3: Datalink Communication Failure (ALL MODELS)
Datalink issues prevent remote control and auto-start functions. I repair Datalink circuits, replace opto-isolators, and test communication lines.
🔴 ISSUE #4: Drive Belt Stretched/Broken (ALL MODELS)
The drive belt stretches over time, causing speed inaccuracy and wow/flutter. I replace the belt with a genuine or factory-spec replacement.
🔴 ISSUE #5: Integrated RIAA Preamp Issues (8002/9500)
The built-in phono preamp can develop problems due to failed capacitors or op-amps. I recap and repair the RIAA preamp section.
🔴 ISSUE #6: Speed Instability (9500 Quartz-Locked)
The quartz-locked speed control can drift due to failed capacitors. I recap the motor control board and recalibrate the quartz reference circuit.

2. Document polarity before removal – incorrect polarity causes immediate failure.
3. Use only 105°C rated capacitors – original caps were often 85°C.
4. Upgrade small-value electrolytics to film – 10µF or smaller in signal path.
5. RIAA EQ capacitors get 1% tolerance for accurate equalization.
6. After recap, verify all voltage rails on a variac.
7. 60-minute burn-in before final calibration.
